Crush brings a distinctive energy to Yakima Valley wine country. With harvest finished, winemakers begin production of the next vintage, creating an exciting season for both winemakers and connoisseurs. In the Yakima Valley, Crush takes place in late September and early October. Wineries often mark the occasion with fall cuisine, themed festivals, concerts, and specialty wine releases—and the celebration extends well beyond the wineries.

Crush season welcomes wine lovers and winemakers alike to Yakima Valley Wine Country. As harvest winds down in Valley vineyards, winemakers start shaping the next great Yakima Valley vintage. Celebrate with grape stomps, vineyard tours, behind-the-scenes grape crush experiences, harvest parties, live music, fall flavors from locals’ favorite food trucks and vendors, a vineyard run, and activities for the whole family.

The excitement comes after months of attentive vineyard care, as growers monitor the fruit for the right flavor profiles, sugar levels and pH. Once the grapes are crushed, the craft of making premium Yakima Valley wines begins.

Harvest and Crush celebrations also provide an opportunity to purchase wine for the holidays and gift giving. Wineries throughout the Valley offer savings and special releases. Winery shops feature fall gifts, artisan foods, and wine country décor, while winery dining stops serve perfectly paired wine country bites.

The harvest experience continues between winery visits, with just-picked, farm-fresh flavors throughout the valley. Find produce, artisan foods, hand-crafted bakery treats, and gifts at farm stands and farmers markets. Add the gorgeous, early fall weather, and Yakima Valley wine country becomes a picture-perfect fall getaway.
