Yakima Wine Area

Start at the Valley’s northwest end, where 10 winery stops sit in and around town. Taste a flight from a winery atop a volcanic plateau or overlooking Valley orchards, then continue through Union Gap for premier sparkling wines and broad mountain and Valley views.

Zillah and the Rattlesnake Hills Wine Area

The distinctive region encompassing the Rattlesnake Hills features ridgetop vineyards rising more than 3,000 feet in elevation. Its altitude and unusual geology support growers in producing world-class grapes. The area contains 1,800 vine acres and more than 20 wineries, with a focus on cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, chardonnay and riesling.

Prosser Wine Area

Known as the birthplace of Washington’s wine industry, this charming town has about 20 wineries, including nine located within walking distance of one another. In a few square miles, visitors can sample every varietal produced in Washington, from Albariño to Zinfandel. Grassy spaces nearby, only steps from the wineries, create an ideal setting for afternoon sipping and a picnic.

Red Mountain Wine Area

Red Mountain covers 4,540 acres, making it one of Washington’s smallest and warmest wine grape growing regions. Diverse geology, a mild southern slope, steady winds and a complex blend of rare, highly valued soils come together in this intimate growing area. The result is red wine grapes highly prized for wines of superb concentration and depth.

Columbia Gorge Wine Area

This wine area pairs its wineries with gorgeous views of the Columbia River Gorge. Its beautiful river vistas are unlike those found in any other Yakima Valley wine tasting region.
