Inclusion in the Yakima Valley Travel Guide
Yakima Valley Tourism produces 100K copies of the travel guide each January. 20K copies come directly to Yakima Valley Tourism, while the remaining 80K are distributed through Certified Folder Distribution. The guide is available in print and digitally on the website.
Certified Folder Display places the guide at 526 locations across Western and Eastern Washington, Vancouver WA, the Portland metro area and the Dalles/Hood River area, including 287 locations.
In 2022, distribution expanded to Boise, Salem, Central Oregon, Pendleton and Bend through an additional 228 locations.
Altogether, 80K guides reach more than 1K locations throughout the PNW, creating exposure for both local businesses and the Yakima Valley.
Presence on Yakima Valley maps
Relevant businesses may be featured on the Craft Beverage, Farm Fresh Fun and Downtown Yakima Maps.
These full-color maps are printed in-house on 11x17 paper and distributed through the Yakima Valley Visitor Information Center, hotels, members and direct mail to prospective visitors. Digital versions are also available online.
Event marketing
Events can be submitted for promotion on the Yakima Valley Tourism website event calendar.
Selected events are shared through YVT social media channels and consumer blogs published periodically during the year. Travel writers and media outlets also use the events page when looking for Yakima Valley story ideas.
A bi-weekly events email is sent mid-week with highlights of events taking place during the upcoming weekend.
Brochure and rack card distribution
Member brochures and rack cards are distributed at the Yakima Valley Visitor Information Center(VIC) and Yakima Convention & Event Center.
Dining members can also place menus in three restaurant books, giving travelers ideas for local dining.
Directory of Conventions & Sporting Events
Members receive a complimentary copy of the Directory of Conventions & Sporting Events.
This members' only resource is compiled monthly and emailed to members. It provides information about conventions and sporting events coming to town and can help businesses market themselves to incoming conferences and events.
Convention and Group Sales Department
Yakima Valley Tourism’s Convention & Group Sales Department shares convention and group sales leads that produce measurable overnight bookings. The department also identifies and pursues conventions that meet sales solicitation criteria.
The team is frequently asked to collect member information and arrange outside activities for conference attendees. A kiosk in the Convention Center displays member materials, including rack cards and calendars, helping registration staff answer visitor questions about things to do in the Yakima Valley.
Yakima Valley Sports Commission
The Yakima Valley Sport Commission works to establish the Yakima Valley as a leading sports destination. Its efforts include advocating for new venues and improvements to current facilities, bringing sporting events and conferences to the Yakima Valley, assisting local organizers with bids for state and regional events, and connecting event organizers, venues and the hospitality industry.
Marketing Department
The marketing department promotes members and events through social media channels, weekly blogs, paid advertising and partnerships with Visit Seattle, the Port of Seattle, the State of Washington Tourism and others.
Travel Media & Trade Relations
The Travel Media & Trade Relations department represents members by pursuing media coverage, growing leisure and group travel, bringing regional and national attention to the Yakima Valley, and participating in industry, consumer and media trade shows.
Member-Only E-Newsletter
The Member E-news keeps members up to date on current and future Yakima Valley Tourism events, tourism-related news, upcoming sporting events and staff updates.
