Hop Harvest in the Yakima Valley

During hop harvest, the Yakima Valley comes alive. See hops move from field to baling, observe the harvesting process, and tour the hop facility as the crop is processed. The aromas are incredible, and the activity is non-stop.

Thousands of brewers from around the world visit Yakima during harvest. This experience offers the chance to see, smell, and touch the hops just as they do.

The Tour

Little Hopper Tours and Rooted Yakima Valley present the Yakima Valley's first Hop Farm and Sensory Experience. The outing includes visits to family hop farms, a tour of a hop processing and production facility, and a walk among the hop bines—not vines. Along the way, you will learn why they are called bines.

Hop sensory activities introduce different hop varieties and explain the role hops play in brewing great craft beers. As brewers from around the world do, participants will rub hops in the hop selection room and taste beers made with hops from the farms.

After building knowledge and appreciation for hops, Little Hopper will shuttle guests back to Single Hill Brewing, one of Yakima Valley's award-winning breweries, for a behind-the-taproom look.

Note: Must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.

Yakima Valley breweries have the best hops at their fingertips and produce many award-winning beers. While enjoying a taproom favorite or a creative single-batch brew, guests can learn how the beer is made and view the production rooms where some of Yakima's finest craft beers are produced.

The brewery tour will take place at Single Hill Brewing.
