About the Day of Remembrance
The Japanese Day of Remembrance commemorates the signing of Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1942. That order enabled the US Army to incarcerate more than 120,000 Japanese American men, women, and children during World War II.
The event offers an opportunity to learn about the history of the Japanese American community in the Yakima Valley and hear personal stories from community members.
