Capitol Edge: BATSU! at The 4th Street Theatre in Downtown Yakima

MATURE AUDIENCE ADVISED

An Interactive Japanese Comedy Experience

In Japan, comedians take part in a format called batsu game (????), competing in varied challenges while the losers endure a punishment. BATSU! adapts this tradition for American audiences, with electric shocks, paintballs, a giant egg-smashing chicken, and other unexpected penalties awaiting those who lose.

Four American comedy warriors compete in a series of painful, embarrassing, and absurd challenges. Audience members who are brave enough may volunteer after signing a waiver, taking part in selected challenges for the chance to earn honor—or receive a punishment.

The BATSU! performers belong to Face Off Unlimited, an acclaimed comedy group whose work has been praised by The New York Times, and they also regularly appear on television, film, and stage.

Watch the performers—and potentially join them—as they pursue comedic glory and honor while trying to escape hilariously painful and humiliating punishments. One competitor will ultimately prevail and earn the honor of striking the “Gong of Punishment.”

BATSU! combines the Japanese comedy tradition of a batsu game with authentic and delicious Japanese food, audience participation, and the very best improv comics in the city for an interactive, immersive, dining and entertainment experience.
