Yakima Area Arboretum offers outstanding opportunities to observe birds and other wildlife. Many different bird species live on the grounds or stop there during the year.

In winter, local Audubon Society members look after a feeding station at the bird blind in the northeast corner of the Arboretum grounds, close to the brush holding/work area. Nesting boxes for several types of birds can be found throughout the grounds. The colder season also provides a good opportunity to watch birds feeding in the Crabapple and Hawthorn Collections.

The Yakima Valley Audubon Society created a bird viewing guide and checklist for Yakima Area Arboretum. Birding the Yakima Area Arboretum provides additional information about the birds that visit the Arboretum each year.
