Central

Shopping enthusiasts can spend the day at the 1 million-square-foot La Palmera mall or Lamar Park shopping center. Central offers current fashions and distinctive specialty stores, whether you need a new bathing suit or a suitcase of items to take home. Casual restaurants and family activities—including an escape room and the Schanen Hike & Bike Trail—add even more ways to enjoy the area. Central is also where you’ll find Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the country’s only university located on its own island.

Whitecap North Padre Island

Whitecap NPI is creating a destination resort and residential community unlike anything seen before in Texas. The project is designed as a destination resort and residential community unlike anything seen before in Texas.

The Island

North Padre Island delivers everything from relaxing beach time to energetic nightlife, with Texas-sized adventures throughout. Visit the protected Padre Island National Seashore, nearly 70 miles long and the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world. Camping among the dunes is available year-round, and visitors can ride horses along the shore. The seashore provides shelter for Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, the tiny endangered sea turtle that conservationists have been working hard to protect. Its natural beauty and deep sailing history make this preserved destination an especially distinctive place to explore.

Downtown

Corpus Christi Bayfront and Downtown offer a lively mix of activities, lodging, and entertainment. With more than 1,200 hotel rooms, the area makes a convenient home base for days and nights filled with options for everyone in your group. Walk the seawall beside McGee Beach, which stretches along Corpus Christi Bay, then spend time in the waterfront Sea District—short for sports, entertainment and arts. Cultural highlights include the Art Museum of South Texas and the Corpus Christi Science and History Museum. Sports fans can catch a Hooks baseball game at Whataburger Field.

Originality defines the Marina Arts District, from its art and culture to its coastal food scene. Choose among gourmet pizza with craft beer, authentic Tex-Mex and margaritas on a patio, or locally sourced seafood beside the water. Afterward, live music carries the evening into the busy streets.

Southside

Southside’s busy business district combines restaurants and entertainment with peaceful natural spaces. Begin at the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center, where roses, plumeria, and an orchid-filled conservatory provide a tranquil escape. The butterfly garden offers another point of interest, while the gentle Brennecke Nature Trail is a place to look for a variety of birds.

Shopping at Moore Plaza and a visit to the weekly farmers market are additional Southside activities. For family time or a date night, In the Game Funtrackers offers an enjoyable way to spend the day with people you love.
