Every beach in Corpus Christi welcomes dogs, though dogs at McGee Beach must remain on a leash. Our pet-friendly beaches welcome pets and dogs of all shapes and sizes!

North Beach is off-limits to dogs on all major holidays. During those periods, take your pups to Padre Balli Park on North Padre Island instead.

Yes. Mobile lifeguards patrol McGee Beach. The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s full lifeguard schedule provides additional information about lifeguard coverage and mobile patrol throughout the year.

How can I get a beach wheelchair?

The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department provides free Beach Wheelchairs for persons with disabilities. These chairs support movement across the sand and into the surf. Availability is first-come, first-served while lifeguards are on duty.

Beach Wheelchairs must be reserved by phone Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. Please call 361-826-1932 to inquire about availability.

What do I do with my trash?

Blue boxes at McGee Beach provide complimentary trash bags; visitors can take one or two. The bags are designed to shed sand and stay in place rather than blowing down the beach. Trash cans are located at each beach entrance and throughout the beach. Help leave the shoreline better for the next visitor.

Is camping and/or campfires permitted?

No. Camping and campfires are not allowed on McGee Beach.
