U.S. Weather Bureau Station/Hatteras Welcome Center

Managed by The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, this center assists visitors with attraction information, event details, and directions. Built in 1901, the center is housed in the first U.S. Weather Bureau Station. The station was important to the nation's growing meteorological network and weathered some of the most severe storms of the 20th century before being decommissioned in 1946.
