Motorcoach-Friendly Attractions on the Outer Banks
Plan an Outer Banks visit around attractions that welcome motorcoach groups, offer group activities, and provide student experiences. Whether your interests center on history, the outdoors, or architecture, the region offers many ways to connect with the nation’s heritage.
The Outer Banks preserves Elizabethan history through The Lost Colony, Roanoke Island Festival Park, and the Elizabethan Gardens. On December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk in Kill Devil Hills, Wilbur & Orville Wright achieved the first powered flight, an accomplishment visitors can explore at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. The spirit of flight also continues at Jockey's Ridge State Park, North Carolina’s most visited state park, with the tallest sand dunes on the East Coast and popular opportunities for hang gliding and kite flying. Other notable sites include Bodie Island Lighthouse and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which rises 208 feet and is the tallest in the United States. Together, these destinations represent only some of the treasures along the shores of the Outer Banks.
