Catalina Bison Viewing Tours

Tour Catalina's interior for a chance to spot the island's bison herd, with options that include hummer and jeep-style excursions.

Bison tours

In the 1920's, 14 bison were brought to Catalina Island for a feature film shoot. Afterward, they remained on the island and became an important part of Catalina Island. The Catalina Island Conservancy cares for the herd, which is now around 100 bison, and the animals move freely through Catalina Island's broad wildlands.

Multiple island tour operators lead trips into Catalina's interior, where guests may see bison along with Catalina Island fox and American Bald Eagles. Most of these outings use open-air vehicles.

Available options include the Conservancy Eco Tour from The Catalina Island Conversancy, the Bison Expedition from Catalina Island Company, the Inside Adventure Tour from Catalina Adventure Tours, private Eco Tours from Catalina Taxi & Tours, and an E-Bike Eco Tour from Leyva Electric Bikes.
