Land-Based Activities on Catalina Island

Beaches

South Beach, Middle Beach and Step Beach are open to the public and sit on Crescent Avenue, just a short distance from hotels, shops, restaurants, restrooms and other Avalon conveniences.

Bikes & Golf Carts

After arriving in Avalon, guests soon find that the downtown area is very easy to explore on foot. Many visitors also enjoy heading into the hills by bike or golf cart.

Bison Tours

During the 1920's, 14 bison were brought to Catalina Island for a feature film production. They remained on the island and have become an important part of its story.

Camping

Camping is one of the island’s great ways to experience Catalina Island outdoors and close to nature. Catalina Island offers family camps and five camping areas.
