The Original Catalina Wine Mixer on Catalina Island

Catalina Island, located off the coast of Southern California, is the setting for The Original Catalina Wine Mixer. Launched on Catalina Island in 2015, the event takes inspiration from a fictional gathering featured in the Will Ferrell movie Step Brothers. In Step Brothers, the imagined Catalina Wine Mixer is framed as a major helicopter-leasing event in the Western Hemisphere. In the real world, the Catalina Wine Mixer is the greatest wine tasting party event in Southern California. The Catalina Island Company produces the event.

Held each year in late May, the two-day celebration brings together a weekend of entertainment, live music, and wine tasting.

Friday night programming features an exclusive VIP reception at the charming and historic Catalina Country Club, plus a live band inside the Wrigley Ballroom at the world-famous Catalina Casino. Guests then watch Step Brothers in the Art Deco themed Avalon Theatre. Those staying out later can continue on to Descanso Beach Club for a beachside evening party with live music.

Saturday centers on the main event, hosted annually at the oceanfront Descanso Beach Club. The day includes wine tastings, live performances from bands and DJs, VIP programming, and an early-afternoon wine tasting event.
