The Little Church in the Valley, also called The Historic Church, holds the distinction of being Golden Valley’s oldest public building. The one-room, nondenominational church was built in 1882 by the city’s earliest pioneers. In 1890, horses and mules pulled the frame building nearly a mile across rolling logs to its present site.
The Golden Valley Historical Society (GVHS) took ownership of the Historic Church in 1997, making it the organization’s permanent home. GVHS added a new section beginning in 2013, and the Golden Valley History Museum opened in 2018. At 140 years old, the church offers a charming wedding setting filled with historic appeal.
An Intimate Wedding
Small weddings, wedding vow renewals, and memorial services can be held at The Little Church in the Valley. The de-sanctified chapel accommodates 80 guests, with onsite parking available for 20-30 cars. Couples who reserve the church through the Historical Society receive support from an experienced liaison who helps coordinate arrangements.
