Know Better Beer

Lori Ertl and co-owner John Keenan have shared a friendship since they were 15. Alongside one of their sons, Tyler Marchiniak, they pursued a brewery built to feel welcoming, warm, and rooted in community.

Lori’s path into brewing grew from her passion for cooking. After five years as a homebrewer, she earned 41 medals in BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program)-sanctioned competitions and then chose to expand into commercial brewing.

In 2015, Lori, John and Tyler began working with Golden Valley officials to secure an ordinance for the brewery. Four years and 14 sites later, they located the right home for the business. Under Pressure Brewing officially opened their doors on February 1, 2019.

Features & Amenities

The Brewery

Under Pressure Brewing is Golden Valley’s first brewery and blendery, pairing modern brews with a laid back, medieval-style atmosphere. The tap list includes over 20 beers, along with an equal number of blended beers. Guests who want to explore their options can order a sample flight or select an 8-pint flight designed for sharing.

The spacious taproom offers a welcoming setting inspired by an English castle, with suits of armor and a giant tapestry on the wall. A large fireplace sits beside a library of classic books and games suitable for all ages.

Visitors may purchase food from a visiting food truck or bring food from home or a nearby restaurant. The brewery welcomes everyone, including families and dogs.

Entertainment

UPB hosts entertainment ranging from Wyvern Knights demonstrating armored combat to brat eating contests. Themed trivia takes place every Thursday night from 7 – 9 pm. Their event calendar provides the latest information about upcoming happenings.

Event Space
