Ice Skating

Lace up and hit the ice at over 20 skating locations throughout St. Louis Park and Golden Valley.

The Rec Center

With two sheets of ice, the St. Louis Park Rec Center welcomes both figure skaters and hockey players. Public skating takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends, including summer weekends. Open hockey sessions are available Tuesdays and Thursdays for those ages 16 and up.

Seasonal public skating events include Goblins on Ice, Turkeys on Ice, and Disco Ball Ice Skating. Rental skates and skate sharpening are offered for a fee.

The Rec Center’s Banquet and Gallery Rooms can be reserved during public skating hours for parties of up to 160 people. A rental includes two hours in a room and public skating admission for up to 15 people.

For larger events, including hockey tournaments, the East and West skating rinks are available to rent. The West rink includes stadium seating for up to 2,000 spectators.

The ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center)

The ROC is St. Louis Park’s covered outdoor skating rink, connected to the Rec Center. It operates from October through early March, with public skating on Friday evenings and weekend afternoons.

Free pond hockey is offered on weekends for all ages. The ROC can also be rented exclusively for a fee and hosts broomball games along with other special events.

During summer, the ROC’s concrete floor supports concerts, festivals, art fairs, and more. In winter, the rink is distinctive enough that the Minnesota Wild hold a practice there each year.

Outdoor Skating in St. Louis Park

Nine outdoor park skating rinks are available across St. Louis Park. Locations include Ainsworth, Birchwood, Browndale, Edgebrook, Jackley, Nelson, Oak Hill, Parkview, and Willow Parks.

Seven parks include hockey rinks with boards on every side. Six parks are lighted daily from 4:30 pm – 8:45 pm, and five provide warming houses.

Birchwood, Browndale, Nelson, and Oak Hill parks have warming houses that accommodate groups up to 25. These spaces may be rented before, during, and after regular warming house hours.

At these parks, hockey rinks with nets are available for rental. Nelson Park also provides broomball net rental.
