Skateboarding at St. Louis Park and Golden Valley Skate Parks
Skateboarding
Rails, Ramps, and Big Air
Since the late 40s/early 50s, skateboarding has continued to grow in popularity. St. Louis Park and Golden Valley may not offer ocean waves, but riders can still catch some big air at two skateparks built for grinding and riding.
3rd Lair SkatePark & SkateShop
3rd Lair provides an indoor, year-round place to skate. After being in business for over 20 years, they remain simply the best indoor skateboarding park in the Twin Cities. The facility includes a 25,000 sq. ft. skatepark and a fully stocked skateshop.
Throughout the week, visitors can choose from multiple open riding sessions, classes, and camps. Skateboards, pads, and helmets are available to rent or buy.
Birthday Parties and Private Events
The full skatepark can be reserved for private gatherings. Birthday party packages provide free rental gear and 2 hours of private skating, making them suitable for groups of up to 10 or 20 (or more) kids. Parents ride free.
Carpenter Park Skate Park
When the weather is nice, visit Carpenter Park for its 6,500 sq. ft. all-concrete outdoor skatepark. Its plaza-style layout includes stairs, rails, a mini half-pipe, and additional features.
Seasonally, the skate park is open from 9 am to dusk, and every rider can use it for free.
