Art Experiences in St. Louis Park and Golden Valley — Arts & Entertainment

Find public art, vivid murals, sculptures, sidewalk poetry, art fairs, and exhibits across St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. There are many ways to experience local creativity.

Art in the Park and Valley

St. Louis Park and Golden Valley offer an inviting destination for art lovers. Public art installations, art fairs, and exhibits showcase the many forms artistry can take.

Public Art

St. Louis Park features a range of highly photogenic murals and public art installations. The City maintains a public art list with an interactive map, descriptions of the individual pieces, and information about where to see them. Notable examples include the Historic Walker Lake Community Mural and the Full Circle sculpture at the West End. A City blog also points visitors toward standout selfie locations and lesser-known murals that are not featured elsewhere.

The City’s sidewalk poetry program adds another form of public art. Residents and students submitted poems that were sandblasted into public sidewalks. Installations can be found on Lake Street between Dakota Avenue and Walker Street, on Walker Street between Lake Street and The Block restaurant, and at additional locations around the city.

Artist Showcase

Each year, the Artist Showcase presents the work of over 60 artists from St. Louis Park and Golden Valley in a community art exhibit. It generally launches in January and remains available for several months. Previous venues have included The Galleries of Brookview in Golden Valley, Westwood Hills Nature Center, and virtual 3D and Instagram galleries. The exhibit encompasses traditional art mediums along with VR, film, and other creative formats. Golden Valley Arts and the SLP Friends of the Arts produce the event together.

St. Louis Park Art Fair

The SLP Art Fair is an opportunity to gather, celebrate, and shop from local artists and makers. Visitors can also enjoy food trucks, entertainment, live art demonstrations, and community art projects. Held each fall at the ROC, the fair features the work of over 70 vendors.

Golden Valley Arts

For over 25 years, Golden Valley Arts has supported local artists, arts organizations, and residents through a variety of channels. The organization recommends public art and advocates for GV artists. Its work also brings examples of visual arts to street banners displayed throughout the community.

SLP Friends of the Arts (FOTA)

Since 1995, SLP FOTA has helped bring the SLP community together to support, promote, and strengthen the arts. The organization backs local artists through grants, scholarship and other programs, while also presenting Open Mic Poetry Jams (in person and virtual), community art walks, artist happy hours, and community storytelling sessions.
