Theodore Wirth Regional Park

Nature-loving couples will find an abundance of possibilities at Theodore Wirth Regional Park. Its more than 740 acres include wooded areas, miles of trails, a lake, a bog, two golf courses, and a beach, creating photo settings for every season. Scenic bridges and views toward the Minneapolis skyline appear throughout the park.

The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden is also within the park, although posed pictures are not allowed there. Wildflowers can still be found blooming in other parts of the park.

Westwood Hills Nature Center

Westwood Hills Nature Center offers 3 miles of trails passing through marshland, prairie, and woods. The Waterfall Observation Deck and Outdoor Water Garden are especially appealing to bridal parties, and either one—or both—can be rented for a private wedding photo shoot.

The accessible Observation Deck provides views of the waterfall, water garden, Westwood Lake, and the surrounding forest. Water travels over the 6-foot-high waterfall before cascading down the hillside. At the Outdoor Water Garden, accessible crushed rock paths lead across bridges and alongside a pond where visitors can watch the fish. Rock benches provide additional places to pose, rest, and take in the scenery.

Wolfe Park

In the Excelsior & Grand area of St. Louis Park, Wolfe Park combines expansive grassy areas with wooded paths. Picturesque Wolfe Lake occupies the park’s western side, and Bridge Pond flows through its middle.

The bridge across Wolfe Park makes a charming setting for photographs. Nearby, a vine covered pergola by the playground offers another option. Couples and bridal parties can also use Veterans’ Memorial Amphitheater, where the terraced hillside and broad park views create an imaginative backdrop.

Historic Walker Lake District

For wedding photos with a more unconventional feel, explore the Historic Walker Lake District. The mural on the Sota Clothing building offers several possibilities: pose beneath the “You Betcha We Love It Here” mural, or create a distinctly Minnesotan image with Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

The Block is located just down the street and features the “Love from SLP” mural. The setting works well for a bride and groom’s message of affection to family and friends, whether the image becomes a holiday card or an engagement photo for a save the date.
